Prayer

Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.
And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. -James 5:13-15

June 15 Prayer Requests

First of all, thank you for all your continued prayers for our family as we prepare to move. Continue to pray through this transition, especially lifting up Pastor Dennis as he comes to NK.

Thanks for your prayers through Annual Conference. This was the best A.C. I've ever attended, in attitude, worship, and spirit. Please continue to pray for the United Methodist Church, as the jurisdictional conference in July will likely choose a new bishop for West Ohio. Bishop Ough (pronounced "O") has done an excellent job in that role for us the past 8 years, and we pray for someone who will continue with such excellent, Spirit-filled and Spirit-led leadership.

Please pray for Mindy, Monica, and Lisa, as they are all stepping out of their comfort zones to minister to young women in prison. Mindy will be leading the team, Monica will be giving a talk, and this is Lisa's first trip to the prison. They will be doing awesome work for the Lord in such a fertile mission field, but they badly need your prayers.

Also, please keep our senior high youth in your prayers as they prepare and go to Lakeside for camp. They will be leaving on Saturday. Keep them and Pat and Sharon (their leaders) in your prayers; this is an important week for God's work to be done in their lives.

Here are some prayer requests for this week:
  • The family of Dennis C (Colin C's brother-in-law, who we've been praying for), as he died this week.
  • Mark T (one of Pastor Brian's soccer buddies), whose wife died this week.
  • Mary Jo Z.
  • Gene O Sr.
  • Rachel M (Shirley B's daughter-in-law): bypass surgery this week.
  • Mabel N (Scott's mother)
  • Carmen N (Scott's aunt)
  • Betty N (Caitlin's grandmother): undergoing chemo
  • Homer: had a good report on his sugar; Charlyne's uncle; Homers sons' salvation
  • Eric S. and all of our service personnel
  • Case & Alma V.
  • Carol P: Sue N's cousin
  • Marsha, Sue N's friend
  • Chris S.
  • Jack D.

Finally, on Fathers' Day, please lift up a prayer for your father and for fathers everywhere. Pray for those fathers who have been unable to be good dads as well as those sons and daughters who have not experienced the love of their earthly father. Thank God for being a loving Heavenly Father who never fails us and never leaves us.

As a final editorial, as I am moving, I will be turning this page over to Pastor Dennis to do with as he sees fit. I have been honored that you have continued to read this page and to pray for and with us here in New Knoxville.
